![]() | Frequently Asked Questions & Answers... Q: What is the cost of A Better Solution's services? A: Our prices vary depending on the level of care needed. An hourly price will be determined following a careful assessment of your needs. However, we don't believe in "hiding" our prices from you (we want you to be fully prepared to make an educated decision regarding home care). The typical rate for 2 hours of service is $28-32/hr. The typical rate for 3 or more hours of service is $24-28/hr. The typical rate for a 12 hour shift is $200-225 The typical rate for a 24 hour shift is $260-292.50 We run promotions often with postcard discounts and monthly specials. We are also willing to work with most budgets. If your assessed rate is a little too high to be reasonable for you, we will do what we can to lower it! Q: How do you train your employees? A: Every new staff member participates in an orientation program that educates them on the most practical topics and prepares them for typical situations encountered in the workplace. They are all required to take a 7 hour HIV/AIDS Education class as well. All Personal Care Assistants are required to take a 28-hr. training course and become registered with the state of Washington within 90 days of hire. In October 2007 we started making it manditory that all Personal Care Assistants also become Nurse Delegated. In addition, we hold monthly staff meetings to discuss concerns and company news. We often provide at least 1 hour continuing education trainings during these meetings. Q: So what exactly is this Nurse Delegation anyway and what is so special about it? A: Nurse Delegation is when a Registered Nurse delegates certain nursing tasks to qualified caregivers. Up until recently, there were no agencies in the skagit valley area that could provide this service. In fact, we are the only agency that Skagit Valley Hospice can recommend for clients who need nurse delegation. These are some of the tasks that can be delegated: -Medication administration (we could only assist with meds before) -Blood glucose monitoring -Straight catheter insertion -Wound care using a clean technique -Colostomy care Q: Are your caregivers insured? A: Absolutely! All of our caregivers are covered by our professional liability insurance and are fully bonded. Q: Can I pick my own caregiver, or meet them in advance? A: Our staff section of this website is updated just as soon as a new caregiver is trained and ready to provide care. Please read the information provided next to the picture of each staff member. We'll do whatever we can to get the caregiver you prefer. When a new employee comes into your home for training, you will have an opportunity to "interview" them and find out if they are the right person for you. Q: Who pays the caregiver? Me or you? A: All billing, payroll, taxes, and insurance is handled by A Better Solution. You never have to worry for a moment about any administrative responsibilites. Q: Why should I choose A Better Solution rather than a caregiver advertised in the classifieds? A: All of our caregivers are carefully screened, trained, licensed, insured & bonded. By evaluating your needs during your free 155-pt. assessment, we are able to match you with someone that you are most comfortable with. This isn't always the case with an independent caregiver that you may come across in the paper. Often you may never know their background, and whether or not they have the proper training and insurance. Another significant downside to hiring an independent caregiver is that if they are unable to show up for a scheduled shift, you just simply have to do without care for that day/week/etc. Q: Do I have to be elderly or unable to care for myself to employ your services? A: Absolutely not. A Better Solution offers care to anyone who needs it. Whether you would just like to have someone come in once a week to clean your house and prepare several meals for your family, or you need a caregiver in your home at all times- we can be there. Q: What areas do you provide services to? A: We provide care to clients in Stanwood/Camano Island, Arlington/Smokey Point, Marysville, La Conner, Mount Vernon, Burlington, and Sedro-Woolley. If your town is in this area and not listed here, give us a call anyway! We have no problem getting quickly licensed for other areas! | ||||||||
